One Bolt. That’s all I needed.

But it cost me $15 and more than two hours of my time.

I lost the M8 × 45 mm countersunk bolt that holds the handguard on my KTM enduro bike. It must have worked loose on a trail ride, and I didn’t notice until the handguard was hanging off.

“Easy fix,” I thought.

I’ll measure the bolt on the other side and buy a replacement for a couple of bucks.

Canada is metric. How hard could it be?

Turns out, harder than it should be.

Big-box stores carry some metric hardware, but the selection is limited. Countersunk? The exact diameter and length? You often don’t know if they have it until you’ve already made the trip.

You can buy a single bolt online from Canadian fastener suppliers — but paying $15–$20 shipping for a $2 bolt doesn’t make much sense.

You can drive to a specialist fastener supplier — assuming they sell to the public and you can get there during business hours. Lose an hour of wages to save $20 on shipping? The math still doesn’t work.

Or you can buy a $25 assortment online and end up with 50 bolts when you needed one.

So I started OneBolt.

We sell metric fasteners individually and ship small orders across Canada using low-cost Canada Post mail.

We’re starting with stainless metric bolts, nuts and washers because stainless is one of the harder types of metric hardware to find locally in small quantities, especially when you need a specific head style, diameter and length.

Over time, we plan to expand into other useful fasteners and small hardware too — including higher-strength steel, specialty metric hardware and the awkward parts that are surprisingly difficult to buy one at a time.

No minimum quantity. No giant assortment. No $20 parcel charge just because you need one bolt.

Because sometimes you really do just need One Bolt.
